
Nice morning about 39 degrees F when I left the house. At about 7:10am, the sun was beginning to think about coming up with a heavy cloud cover making it pretty dark. I had just got Autumn up to highway speed on the 4-lane divided highway near our house and had moved over to the left hand lane to pass some slower mini-vans and suv cages when a hawk jumps to the air from the grass median to my left and just clears my helmet by 5 or 6 feet. Now that will get you to full alert better than any caffine intake I have ever experienced. Yes, I ducked out of reflex!

I've had similar things happen like that. Always want to duck, even if they aren't even close. Had an owl skim the top of my head one night, was gone before I could think to duck. Lately, I've been dealing with alot of suicidal robins...
