Generations of Harleys

That is my Pop and his dog Jiggs. Jiggs used to ride Pop's motorcycle lying on the tank with his front feet over the handlebars. The year is 1954. He is showing off his trophy that he had just won on an easter egg hunt (yes motorcycle games). The bike is a Harley-Davidson 125.

So, yes, we've had Harleys in our families for years. It's no wonder I think that is what a motorcycle is supposed to look like.

That's just a really great picture. Even if you did not know who it was, It'd still be cool.

I love the stitched saddle bags on the bike.

Your dad was a very handsome man. I treasure old family photos like that. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

Yes, do tell us what the easter egg hunt is like with a Harley.

I posed your question to the old timer and here is the response I got back:
"Thay got a bunch of eggs and loaded them in a side car and took them out to different spots and hid them. All eggs had numbers and we followed a map to the different places and hunted them. When the day was over we added up the numbers. The trophy in the picture was for rocket run, some one would go out and hide in the country and shoot off a sky rocket every 5 minnets who ever found them Won a trophy. That is how I won the round trophy."

That's really an awesome photograph. Yes, no wonder you think that's what a bike is supposed to look like! I don't suppose he still has it?? How cool would that be! Love the suicide shifter!

Does that mean it should look like your Dad's Harley or that a motorcycle should have a dog on the tank? Of course, a dog could make it look kind of like a Mack truck. A different beast entirely!
